What is a Backlink?

By US · Comments (1)
Monday, August 9th, 2010

Backlinks are links from another site to your site. Let’s explore this farther to get an in depth understanding.

Backlinks have two independent elements in each of them.

  1. the url address
  2. the anchor link text

The first element of a good backlink is the url address. A url address is the site, page or area of a site that the link will open when it is clicked. Here is an example of a url address: http://www.creativecraftsandstickers.com/homemade-christmas-crafts/7-simple-homemade-christmas-crafts-ornament-ideas

The second element of a quality backlink is the anchor text. Anchor text are the words that are “clickable” for the person to be able to click and land on the url address of the backlink. This text can be any word or words that you choose to use. Here is an example of anchor text: Ornament Ideas

The above examples are very basic and somewhat incomplete for simplicity sake. We can continue to dig deeper and develop some guidelines to be able to create not only good backlinks, but great backlinks. Keeping the facts above in mind we can learn to create a backlink with a purpose.

Backlinks to interior pages of your website seem to be worth much more than just a link to the home page. Knowing this, when you are creating you backlinks you will want to link to pages or sections of your site that are within your site and not just create links to the home page of your site.

Let’s take a look back at the url address element example that was given to you. If the url address ended after the creativecraftsandstickers.com/, the link would have been a link to a home page. Evaluating the example farther, we can see that the remaining portion of the url address: homemade-christmas-crafts/7-simple-homemade-christmas-crafts-ornament-ideas points to an interior and very specific page of the website other than the homepage.

To address the second element of a good backlink we examine our anchor text from the example. In the example above the keyword phrase used for the anchor text is “Ornament Ideas”. For this example, it is understood that the keyword phrase “ornament ideas” has already been researched and been found to have met required criteria for a valuable keyword phrase. To get the most out of creating a quality backlink you will want to only use very specific and intention keywords or keyword phrases that have been properly researched as your anchor text.

It is important to mention that all backlinks to your site are good. But not all backlinks are created equal and not all backlinks are great. Some backlinks are worth more than others in the eyes of the Google-bots (automated code that searches for particular items according to the most recent Google algorithm and assigns a value to that item). We can use what we know about backlinks and create a great quality backlink.

So far, we know that a backlink is a link from another site to our site. We know to use a good url address and we know to use researched keywords or keyword phrases. But that is not all there is to the “great” backlink game.

To get the most out of backlinks from other sites, and have them “weigh” more we need to look at the site that our backlink is coming from. Think about it this way: if you have a link coming from a site that everyone is familiar with and that site has a good reputation for having knowledge about what your site is about, it would be considered an authority. It already has the clout needed to weigh more than a link from a site that no one is familiar with or a site that has no reputable knowledge on your site’s subject matter. The Google-bots know this and that is why they give more weight and authority to the site that they know has the knowledge. Ultimately the backlinks that come from authority sites are “worth” more and give your site more value, thus increasing your overall rank with Google (and other search engines).

By fully understanding the elements of backlinks and how some backlinks can be more valuable than others we can use that knowledge combined with our keywords and keyword phrases as leverage and build great backlinks. It is the Ultimate Solution for increasing your site’s authority and visibility on the internet and ensuring you the best opportunity to obtain high search engine rank.

How to Get Great Clients

By US · Comments (0)
Friday, June 11th, 2010

Yesterday’s free webinar hosted by James Dalman from WebDesign had so much useful information I just had to share. There was SO much information, I actually had to split my article into two parts. But before I continue, for those who may not already know, WebDesign.com is the premier place to find training and resources for building your online business. You can sign up for a free trial membership by selecting the image and completing their form.

So, back to the question at hand… how do you find and then secure great clients thus ensuring the success of you business?

The first thing to do is to define your perfect client. Consider each of the following.

  1. James suggests you think like an archer. Who and what type of client or customer would be a bulls-eye.

During the webinar, it was suggested to write out what you need. James mentioned that you may think that this is silly and feels strange but I agree with him – it is an important step to ensuring that your business can reach the goals that you have set for it.

  1. Ask yourself what kind of work do you want to do and perhaps even more importantly, what kind of work do you NOT want to do.
  2. How will you clients and customers pay you? Will you accept credit cards? Paypal? What about cash?
  3. What will your payment policies be? 50% down? Full payment upfront? In full upon completion?
  4. Are you going to be global? Local? Hours of operation and when you conduct business can be effected if not though out.
  5. Think like your clients. What is it that they want? Do you or will they prefer online connections or personal contact. Phone or no phone?
  6. Are your customers inline with your brand your values and your mission?

The next step to finding great clients and customers is to use all the tools and resources that are available to you. Even though it has become a somewhat technical and mostly digital world there is validity in creating “the touch factor.” Getting clients now days is about starting and creating a relationship… and then keeping it.

James agreed that blogging great content is one of the best ways to get clients. He mentioned that at first he shied away from revealing too much but realized that it is okay to “give it all away” in the blogs because the good clients will always come back for more. And it is always nice to find and keep the good clients, right?

Another way to get great clients and customers is to leave comments on other people’s blogs and add to their conversation. And you don’t always have to leave a link in the comment section because your link back is under the avatar. Make it great conversation and relevant to the subject and the readers will come to you.

If you are new to some of the tools out there like blogging, Twitter and Facebook it might not seem like this is an ideal environment for developing relationships but in fact THAT is exactly what those tools are for. And when implemented together your business can grow exponentially – solidifying the foundation for the success of your business.

Here are even more ways to add quality clients and customers to your business community.

  1. Offer free webinars (like the one that James was hosting). Cover topics in your area of expertise.
  2. During the WebDesign.com webinar, one of my friends, Pia added, “Ask your ideal clients to refer more people like them…existing clients LOVE to know that that they are ideal clients.” I love this idea and it is a technique I have seen implemented in many successful business models.
  3. Offer free ebooks or PDFs available for download.
  4. Learn to use the social media tools, tweet. Use a hashtags that people will search for. Don’t be boring, become part of your own community by using the social media tools.

And don’t overlook doing some pro-bono work. James cautions though, don’t go into the pro-bono work expecting anything in return. Pro-bono work should be entered into because you DON’T expect or want anything in return. It is then that you, strangely and ironically enough, you will get the biggest return.

Keeping Your Perfect Clients

OK, so now you “got great clients.” Now we need to keep them. One of the best business practices that I love to implement when installing and building sites for my clients is to under promise and over deliver! Think about it. There is nothing more frustrating when YOU are the consumer and you have been told something and the person who told you does not live up to their end of what was expected. No one likes to be disappointed.

  1. Don’t ignore or abuse your clients once you get them.
  2. Be sure to follow up and keep those clients happy. Word of mouth is still THE best way to get business.
  3. Be on time.
  4. Keep promises.
  5. Respond to emails quickly. This is a huge one in today’s world. No longer is a telephone convenient but yet the clients and customers want the response to be as if we are always right there at their beckoning call. And being there for them when they need us is what we should attempt to do.

James did a fantastic job with the seminar and I would recommend any of the free webinars put on by either iThemes, WebDesign.com. I find them all to be very informative and useful in the day to day application of running my small business and developing websites for myself and others.

Getting Great Clients

By US · Comments (0)
Thursday, June 10th, 2010

I attended a great free seminar hosted by James Dalman from WebDesign.com called “Getting Great Clients.” WebDesign.com is one of three companies owned and operated by Cory Miller and his team. It has become THE place to go and find great training and materials to assist you in building a successful website and developing your online business. I wanted to take a moment and go over some of the great lessons from the seminar.

As you probably know, no business can be successful without clients or customers. Anyone can have a great business idea but if that idea is not shared with people who will become clients or use the services of the business then the business becomes nothing but the idea itself. It is our clients and our customers that really control the success of our business. That is why the most important aspect to your business is to get great clients. Just the other day I had a conversation with my friend Dion, who excels in the sales side of business, and he mentioned to me that 1/3 of the time you invest in your business needs to be focused on getting and retaining clients and customers. 1/3rd! That means if you are working a typical 40 hour week over 13 hours of your time needs to be in focused in the direction of finding and getting clients and customers.

Here is another thought. No one is going to know more about your business more than you. So, ultimately, it is YOU who has to go out and get those clients and customers. If you are uncomfortable speaking in public or meeting new people, you will need to overcome those obstacles that might get in the way of you securing that client or customer. It is you who needs to sell them on your offer. No one really likes a salesman per say, but you need to let pespective clients and customers know about the value of what you have to offer. Benefits and features are awesome but it is really how whatever you have can make their life easier, make them more money or add more value to what they have or need. Fulfill their emotional need first and the rest will fall into place.

One of the biggest aspects of my business that brings value to my clients is that I have the time and knowledge that my clients and customers do not have to be able to install and configure a quality and professional website for them quickly and at low cost. Most of my clients are new to the world of website building. They know they want a site and they typically know what they want it to do but they may not know how to make that happen. They are also looking for something that is not expensive and something that once built will be easy for them to understand and be able to add to. They do not want to wait weeks or even months to be able to have a site to work with. That is what I love the most about WordPress and what The Ultimate Solution WordPress site solutions offer. We can do all of that. Or we will do as much or as little as you want US to, tailoring our services to fit your needs.

So, how do you find and then secure the success of you business? That will have to wait until tomorrow.

Until then, and for a limited time, when you join WebDesign.com’s annual training membership program you will also receive a completely free copy of the iTheme’s Builder premium WordPress theme (normally sold separately for $127). Click on the image below.

James offered this coupon personally so in addition to signing up for the membership you will have to shoot him and email at James@webdesign.com and let him know that Kerry told you about the free Builder theme that was offered through the Getting Great Clients webinar. And if the offer is expired, you can still sign up for the WebDesign training or just sign up for the WebDesign training free trial and let me know what you think.

SEO Strategies You Should Heed If You Want To Succeed

By Guest Author · Comments (0)
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Staying abreast of Search Engine Optimization or SEO often feels like you’re putting in a 80-hour week. Besides, you can get dizzy figuring out all the different ways that search engines try to gauge your site’s quality. Every month or so, you can see different types of page rankings, and you might find yourself several dozen pages further down the line than you were before, which can depend on how often the spiders find you. The fact is, however, that SEO is an important part of internet marketing. In order to do well financially on the internet as a marketer, you need to educate yourself fully on the use of SEO. Therefore, you’ll want to use the following SEO tricks of the trade in your next online marketing venture.

Search Engine Optimization can only go so far. Remember that whatever you are writing-blogs, articles, press releases, etc-you must keep the reader in mind at all times. You should always write while keeping the reader in mind. Proving to be second in importance to offering your audience practical and helpful information which they are able to comprehend and enjoy reading, SEO is essential. If you write solely for the search engine spiders, your material might not be readable. Your website’s traffic won’t want to do anything with your website once they get there, so your mission is useless. You want to succeed, right?

Links turn out to be as good as gold, in the SEO universe. You have to try to get high ranking websites to link to your site and you will be ranked higher. This doesn’t mean to only use inbound links in your site, because they aren’t all that’s important with SEO. Outbound links are just as important. Make sure your own site links to other high ranking websites in your niche as well. These sites will usually love the fact that you are sending traffic their way and will link back to your site. When you get this going with several different sites, your reputation will grow not only with the niche you are in, but with search engines as well.

Try not to fret about what rank your page or website gets. Of course you want to be ranked as high as possible, but you are going to only hurt yourself worrying about that little number being displayed. Your page rank will go up and down over time, since page rankings are reset once every few months. What’s more, the powers that be at Google, change the criteria for page rank authority all the time. Your website rank will improve with the major search engines undoubtedly, if you concentrate your efforts on designing a solid and worthwhile website.

There is more to search engine optimization than meets the eye. Understanding how you impress the search engines is often a time consuming endeavor, between outgoing links, incoming links, and various additionally used criteria. In time, the SEO will begin to feel like you have been doing it all your life. As soon as you figure out the yes and no of SEO, the easier it is. For any Internet marketeer and website author, Search Engine Optimization plays a critical role. Without it, nobody would be able to find anything on the internet!

How Internet Marketers Can Quickly Create an E-Mail List

By Guest Author · Comments (0)
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Everyone who studies internet marketing eventually learns about several different ways to market their products and services on the internet. You have almost certainly heard of affiliate marketing and selling your own products from your website. You probably even learned about offline marketing for your business. One method that anyone online knows about is e-mail marketing; even if you don’t use this method, you know about it because you receive offers in your e-mail every day. Sending your offers to the people on your list, who have willingly signed up and shown their interest, can be a very profitable way to market online. Many internet marketers know how powerful a list can be, but how do you actually build one? How to build a list is really one of the most basic and most important skills you can learn. Here are some hints to help you build your list.

You will need a sign-up form on your site that asks for your visitor’s email. There are several widgets that will handle this task for you. Widgets for blog-type sites are only one option: you can also use any other software or code that meets your needs better. If you have a good website, you might be able to build a subscription list without a whole lot of effort. As long as the form is visible people will give you their email addresses. After a while you will become known in your niche and your list will start to build itself as it spreads by word-of-mouth. Create some article marketing campaigns. Link your articles to a landing page so people can optin to your list. If people like your articles, there’s an excellent chance they’ll click through and become a subscriber. The process is this… your articles send readers to your landing pages which compels them to sign-up to your mailing list. If your articles are good and do their job, your readers will pretty much go to where ever you want.

Put a “forward this to your friends!” button in each of the e-mails that you send out. Obviously, this will enable the recipients to send it to others if they find it interesting. If your email is seen as authoritative then you can expect to see a jump in subscribers.

An e-mail list is one of the most profitable tools you can have as an internet marketer. Your list is made up of people who have told you they are open to your information and offers. A targeted list has the kind of people you are looking for, who are seeking the kind of information and products that you provide. Most advertising is annoying or intrusive, but a list is sent to people who gave you permission to send them your offers. That, essentially, is what your e-mail list consists of: people who want to buy what you have to sell!

I hope that you have seen in this article the importance of including list building into your online marketing plan. For more tips on list building and a complete 7 step easy to follow marketing plan visit The Internet Success Zone and receive a complete video training course for free.

Advertising with a Funny Video

By Guest Author · Comments (0)
Saturday, May 1st, 2010

One of the first places where the use of a funny video was seen as advertising was with commercials. The downside to using a television commercial as a method of advertising is that commercials are very short and advertisers have to think of a way to make the commercial memorable to people who view it. This is why many advertisers started using a funny video in their commercials to make them more memorable to viewers.

Thanks to numerous advances in technology, a popular funny video can be seen in many other places besides television commercials. Many Internet websites will show a funny video as a way of attracting visitors to their website. There are even some Internet websites that are dedicated to showing a funny video, or other types of videos.

Many of these Internet websites will allow people to add their funny video so that others people may view the video for entertainment purposes. While advertising with a funny video is a great marketing mechanism, there are other uses for a funny video.

People who upload video clips to social networks and people who watch video clips on online social networks do not want to spend too much time uploading or streaming video clips online. Most people who want to share a great number of videos in online social communities share their video clips on online social communities that offer the latest technology and methods of streaming video clips.

The most popular use for a very funny video is for general entertainment purposes. Many people enjoy visiting websites that have a large selection of video clips that they can watch. Many of the funny video clips will even be sent to others as email attachments, meaning that millions of people will have the chance to see a funny video every time they open their email. One place where people can add a funny video to their own webpage is Mywolfbook.com.

Online Marketing Methods for The Complete Beginner

By Guest Author · Comments (0)
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

If you are new to internet marketing you probably aren’t sure which online money making opportunity is best. Trying to figure out which information about turning a profit is for real or not can be difficult. You’ve probably been invited to take part in a lot of “opportunities” that seem (and probably are) less than legitimate. Many internet marketers can become overwhelmed when faced with a decision of which opportunity to take. However, you’ll be pleased to know there are so many legitimate ways to make money online. Below are just some of the ways you can use internet marketing to make money online easily.

Building and flipping sites is being done by a lot of people. That idea came from flipping real estate for fun and profit… well, the profit part is fun. You buy a domain name and set it up with some cheap hosting. You’ll need content for the site, and if you want you can sell ad space after you get some traffic. Once the site is up, give it two months to see what can of income it makes – and then sell it. But this will take some work and effort on your part, and a lot of marketers make money doing this method.

So let’s create an online store, shall we? There are millions of products available to sell in your store. It can also feature items that you buy from wholesalers and then re-sell. The big decision with this type of internet marketing is whether or not you want to keep inventory.

Warehousing stock has its own special needs, and you’ll have to choose wisely when looking for suppliers. The best choice, for many reasons, is to dropship and not get involved with keeping stock on premises, so you’ll need to find a supplier who can serve your needs the best.

Some people come to internet marketing with a strong background in sales or marketing. Have you considered starting your own consulting business? Coaching or mentoring has become a popular field, as people who need help in some area will pay someone who has the right expertise. Consulting, whether online or in person, is a service that people and business pay thousands of dollars for. People who were successful at sales or marketing in offline careers usually have no problem taking these skills online and becoming great internet marketers. You can find a way to get involved with internet marketing no matter who you are or what your career or educational background might be. The internet is so vast and always growing, so there will never be a shortage of potential customers. In order to succeed at internet marketing, you only need to apply some effort and use your mind creatively.

Once your business gets going, many aspects of it can run on automatic pilot, allowing you to profit without much effort. Be open to experimenting with different strategies until you find one or two that really work for you. With so many internet marketers raking in so much money, there’s no reason why you can’t join their ranks!

What exactly can bSeolized shadowMaker do for you

By Guest Author · Comments (0)
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

shadowMaker – The worlds benchmark in cloaking and heavy duty IP delivery, its in a veritable class of its own, the shadowMaker™ is the world’s first 100% automatic Shadow Domain™ generator — boosting the most sophisticated solution for serious, heavy duty cloaking and IP delivery.

shadowMaker was designed so that you can facilitate the largest demand inside the digital era, pretty merely targeted traffic.

It’s the specialists tool of option to address Prime Search Engine Optimization Issue: Getting“Impossible” Websites Ranked.

A lot more often than not, cloaking or IP delivery is really a must for those organizations whose cyberspace internet sites offer you very tiny of what search engine spiders have often preferred ever since they were invented: well formatted keyword dense, optimized and tuned text content.
Some typical examples:

    * your word wide web webpage is made up primarily of dynamically generated information
    * your setup consists primarily of catalog internet pages featuring short product descriptions, price tags and a shopping cart system.
    * Beyond this, your textual subject material is limited to category headers, item names, order codes, and so on.
    * your world-wide-web websites is rich in graphics
    * your internet website qualities Flash code
    * your interweb place attributes Real Video
    * your website web page capabilities audio streams
    * your internet place functions Quickview code
    * your word wide web web pages capabilities Shockwave code
    * your internet area abilities Java applets
    * your online place navigation is JavaScript biased
    * your net web pages needs cookies e.g. to figure out which information to display to whom and when
    * your world wide web spot is organized via a Subject matter Management Program, generating non-standard URLs, visitor tracking string, session codes, etc.
    * your web site web page is run — in part or fully — via binary executables and/or Perl and CGI programs, employing URLs rich in character strings for instance question marks, blanks, proprietary path symbols, etc.

In all these cases, search engine spiders have preciously tiny to go on in their quest to ascertain what your word wide web web-site is actually about — and as a webmaster, you for your part don’t have plenty of leeway to inoculate your internet pages with the keywords and seek phrases you’re targeting. Considering that you’re in a highly competitive environment with thousands of other internet sites supplying incredibly similar programs, it doesn’t take a genius to determine that your chances at achieving good-to-excellent search engine rankings are practically zero!

    * In short: virtually everything qualifying for state-of-the-art nowadays can’t be spidered or indexed efficiently!

Inside of the above scenario’s, the only solution to facilitate organic targeted targeted traffic and Rank your webpage is to set up an industrial-strength cloaking outfit to feed the spiders what they require. This cloaking outfit provide web pages to the crawlbots/spiders exactly what they are after: rich in relevant information, with targeted keywords or investigation phrases included at the optimum keyword density, featured from the page titles, meta tags, site links, etc.

    * Such cloaking requires the use of phantom web pages and Shadow Domains™. So how does it work?

Phantom web pages are online sites offering very optimized and tuned information intended for search engine spiders only. Shadow Domains™ are dedicated net properties focused on supplying optimized material to search engines even though redirecting human readers to a targeted site. So, technically speaking, Shadow Domains™ are web site online websites consisting entirely of cloaked internet pages not designed for human perusal.

As these pages aren’t intended for human consumption, the actual text used needn’t really make “sense” in any grammatical meaning of the phrase as long as its semantic articles is relevant to your pages’ focus.

Embarrassing Internet Marketing Mistakes

By Guest Author · Comments (0)
Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

This new Hostgator Coupon can help you save money on web hosting.

When you start off with Internet marketing, things can get pretty confusing and overwhelming in a nick of time. In no time at all you’re spending literally half a day, or more, doing what you think is work. It really is possible to spend years on it. You’re trying to learn and make money, but sometimes it all just ends and you’re deeper in debt – with nothing more to show. It can be pretty ugly for those who begin with existing financial issue. The main reason for this is people think Internet marketing is extremely easy as portrayed by the Gurus. People think the big money can be made almost overnight and with hardly any effort. This is a huge lie. Yes there are millionaires who have made their fortune on the web, but they put their brains and sweat into it and made it work over the years by taking risks and applying what they learned. You’ll get absolutely nowhere if you only learn and take zero action. That’s why it’s so important to accept that it will take hard work, and that you must set realistic goals for yourself. The same rules apply for success whether you’re online, or offline. Now let’s move into some of the more common missteps committed by those who are new to online marketing.

Being lazy will always violate the number 1 rule for online success. Make no mistake about it, a successful online business takes hard work. I would be lying to you if I said anything else. But there really is more to it than hard work alone. Working smart will do you well, too. You can avoid wasting your time and effort by moving in the right direction. Learning techniques to drive quality traffic to your site is working smart. As an example, affiliate marketers need to get their affiliate links in front of targeted traffic. It’s important to do joint ventures (JV’s), email marketing, and always be working on your marketing plans if you want to succeed. In the beginning of your online business career, you simply must avoid being lazy. If you’re still thinking online success can be had with little to no effort, you will experience frustration in time. A ‘free lunch’ is non-existent. But one big plus is that it’s possible to outsource certain manual tasks. Doing so will give you more time to work on your business.

Another pitfall that’s easy to make when starting out with internet marketing –information overload that comes from getting on lots of internet marketing email lists and getting lots of conflicting information. Getting too many different ideas at one time can result in confusion and paralysis. Then you end up with an inbox filled to capacity, with thousands of great plans and systems for making money. This kind of information overload puts the brain under too much stress, and often leads to inaction.

There is a simple way to get this problem under control; unsubscribe from most of these lists and only stay on one or two that have ideas you think you’ll really take action on. The key to success here is to concentrate on taking action. The more action you take, the more confident you’ll get about this business. Everyone fails some of the time; the trick is to persevere until you finally succeed.
